Safely Monitor Every Movement: The SNC 021
Within a width of 12.5 mm, the module processes 2 RS422 encoder signals with a frequency of up to 3 MHz. The SNC 021 enables monitoring of speed, position, direction and acceleration of moving machine parts with two non-Safety oriented incremental encoders (SIL3 or SILCL3, PL e). This solution is oriented towards the economic series application of machines and systems, since it eliminates the use of expensive Safety-certified encoders.
The SNC 021 sends all collected data to the Safety controller and function-oriented CPU at the same time. The module provides the 5 V encoder supply with integrated monitoring function and detects all relevant errors, such as a cable break, crossed circuit and reversed input signals. Pluggable Push-in terminals enable fast and simple wiring and ensure reliable operation; even with strong vibration.
The intelligent and very flexible Safety solution of the Salzburg complete systems manufacturer includes numerous components with digital I/Os and relay outputs, as well as for SSI absolute encoders. Machine manufacturers appreciate the slim dimensions, and the low power consumption also makes the system interesting for mobile and battery powered devices.
